Mayors or Kings?

by  / 4 Comments / Filed under

The President of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy, has stated to Baptist Press that his conviction was in favor of traditional marriage. He takes a stand against same-sex marriage. The company does not discriminate against homosexuals.

Mayor Tom Menino of Boston and Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago say Chick-Fil-A is not welcome in their cities. And they will ban them from opening stores.

WHAT? Did these two American cities just become the kingdoms of the mayors? These men are to uphold the United States Constitution. If they don’t like chicken, waffle fries and peach shakes (how could they not?) then don’t buy them. But these men do not have the authority to tell a business they cannot operate in the city.

I wrote the mayor of Boston this week. And I sent a $10 gift card for chicken. You might want to voice your opinion to the mayors. Here are the names and office addresses.

Mayor Thomas Michael Menino
Boston City Hall
One City Hall Plaza
Boston MA 02201

Mayor Rahm Emanuel
City Hall
121 N. LaSalle Street
Chicago, Illinois 60602

And remember…

  1. I would love to know what you said to the mayor! Blessings! Cindy

  2. Glad to see your discussion regarding the boycott of Chick-Fil-A. As Christians I feel we must stand with Mr Cathy. We must support him in his opposition of the gay community’s attempt in redefining what constitutes a marriage. As Mr Cathy Stated in the Huffington post, he is “guilty as charged” for backing “the Biblical definition of a family.” He also said, “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, “We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.” Hello, does Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell?
The Christian community has allowed the Gay community to degrade God’s Holy word. We allowed them to take Gods rainbow that was his promise to us he would never flood the world again and use as their gay symbol. We never took a stand on this issue nor did we fight hard enough to keep prayer and reading of the Bible in our public schools. Wake up Christians and take a stand. Mr Cathy, you stand tall in my eyes and Dr Traylor I am so proud that you are standing beside him.

  3. Good word! Would love to know if you get a response!

  4. I agree whole heartedly!!! I am very thankful to have a pastor who is not afraid to stand for what is right. I have often thought of the “Pensacola Pride” movement going through our city. If welcoming and supporting and encouraging gay and lesbian relationships is all that Pensacola has to be proud of…..MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS! I think we should certainly be praying for them and loving on these individuals but this is not what our city should be proud of. We have an amazing Naval Air base here, that is something to be proud of!
