Election Day

It is Tuesday, November 2, 2010. That means Election Day has arrived. The phone calls will now stop until the next cycle. The mail box will no longer be full of flyers telling you how sorry the other candidate is. I am glad to see this day. I plan to be in line marking a ballot today. Many of the choices are clear to me. Others are tough for me to discern. But I am going to the booth. And I encourage you to do the same.

America is a divided nation. We have always had more than one opinion in this country. That is one of the hallmarks of this republic. Various points of view are allowed. Discussion is encouraged. Freedom allows you to have an idea and make it known. However, we have entered an era of meanness. Politics is as nasty as I can remember. There have always been those who sling the proverbial mud. But today it is a way of life in most political races. It is slime over both style and substance. But the nation marches on.

The need of the hour is a move of the Spirit of God in the local churches. America needs spiritual awakening. I have been on my knees this morning asking for God’s way in the election and His reviving spirit in the church.

When the church altars are burning again with fresh oil we will see the ballot box in a new light. God, make it so.
