Update on Eddie Echarri

July 22nd, 2008
Eddie Echarri

Many of you have been asking about Eddie Echarri and his health. He was taken to the emergency room on Monday after a fall. He has been admitted to Baptist Hospital where he is being cared for. As you are aware he has cancer and is undergoing treatment. Eddie is weak and does not need visitors. A card would be a great touch. The critical need now is prayer. Eddie needs a miracle touch from our Father.

On August 3, 1993 we started Most Excellent Way at Olive. Eddie has been a driving force in this ministry since God saved him from a life of drugs and crime. I will never forget the day he walked forward in Passmore Hall and told me he wanted to give Jesus a try. God did a miracle in salvation that day. Countless numbers of people have been touched by the ministry of MEW in Pensacola in the past 15 years.

On Sunday, August 17, in the 6:00 p.m. service, we will highlight victories in some of the lives eternally changed through the ministry of MEW. If you know of anyone that has been blessed by this ministry, I encourage you to have them at Olive that evening.

A few weeks ago I got on my knees with four deacons in Eddie’s room at Baptist Hospital. We all cried out to God for mercy and healing. I am continuing to ask God for a miracle of healing. Join me today in prayer for my friend and our staff member at Olive.

    Pastor,
My husband and I are two of those changed lives thanks to the ministry of MEW and Eddie! I cannot believe it’s been 15 years since MEW began in the small room with just a handful of prayerful people. Thank You Pastor for supporting such a lifechanging ministry! Our family continues to pray for a miracle for Eddie and Shawn!
    Peace To You!

    Pastor,
I’ve said it many times, but when I think of the people the Lord has brought to Pensacola and how those lives have affected my life, kind of gives me goosebumps. Eddie Echarri is a true trophy of Grace. He has touched thousands of lives all in the name of Jesus. This past July was a 10 year sobriety for me. That journey began through The Most Excellent Way, which brought me to salvation through Jesus Christ. That ministry is still an active part of my life and countless others. Olive Baptist Church is blessed to have Eddie as a part of their ministry. Our prayers are with him and Shawn.

    Dear Pastor,
I don’t know if you remember me or not I used to attend and at one time worked at Olive; but I just logged onto the Olive website to “check it out” as I am living in Michigan now and did not know about Eddie. Please relay a message to him and Shawn for me and tell them that I am praying for them both and love them dearly.
I miss the fellowship at Olive and MEW and hope this finds you all well.
    Sincerely,
    Carrie McCarty

    Pastor,
Eddie has been a faithful servant of the Master. His faithfulness has touched each and every member of my family. He is a man of great integrity and always has an encouraging word. God used Eddie Echarri and Jean Rea to reach my sister and my son. Our lives have been forever blessed and changed by knowing and loving these 2 selfless individuals. My family will be there on Aug 17 to celebrate a ministry that has not only changed our lives but the lives of many many others.
