The President of the Southern Baptist Convention is our good friend, Dr. Johnny Hunt, from First Baptist Church Woodstock, Georgia. On Thursday of this week he will undergo surgery for prostate cancer. A full recovery is expected. I ask you to join me in intercession for our president.

Many of you followed Dr. Johnny’s request in praying for the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force in 2009. As we begin the year praying for our convention president, I ask you to make a renewed commitment to prayer for the GCR. These are crtical days of study and preparation. We need vision and courage as a task force.

As you pray about convention matters, remember to place our NAMB Search Team on your list. I chair the committee looking for the new president of the North American Mission board. Next week our team will be meeting in Atlanta. God is preparing his man and I look forward to meeting him.
