Roll Tide!
January 8th, 2010Good morning from sunny and warm Southern California! I have enjoyed a great couple of days in Pasadena connecting with people and soaking in some beautiful weather. Attending the BCS National Championship Game last night was an amazing experience and I am grateful for the chance to have been there.
As an avid life-long Alabama fan, I was thrilled with the outcome of the game. The testimony that UT quarterback Colt McCoy gave in a post-game interview was also thrilling to my heart. This young man entered yesterday with hopes of winning the game and ending his college career on a high note. His shoulder injury five plays into the game ended that dream. What was his response when he was asked how that felt? After composing himself, Colt gave glory to God and expressed that he knew this was in His plan. He boldly proclaimed that he stands on The Rock. God used a disappointing circumstance to allow a national testimony to be given for Him. Thank God for athletes who use their platforms to share their faith. May we all be so bold.
The Year of Discipleship is off to a great start. I have heard exciting comments about the emphasis of growing believers to a strong faith and commitment. Continue to pray as the year unfolds. Our God is at work.
Join us Sunday night as we ordained five men as deacons. Pray for Randy Butler, Brad Cutts, Richard Hudson, Stan Nichols, and Justin Tyner as they serve.
