I have a deeply inspirataional book to recommend

August 10th, 2007

The football countdown is here. By the end of the month, the gridiron will be lined and ready to go. Hopeful players on all levels are sweating it out to get a playing spot. Pre-season polls are being printed and predictions are flying. Sports talk radio is warming up for the action. Football is in the air.

A few days ago, I picked up a copy of Quiet Strength by Coach Tony Dungy. In this book the winning coach from the last Super Bowl shares the principles, practices and priorities of a winning life. You will read of the faith of Coach Dungy and the huge part it has played in his life. I recommend this book to you. It is a must for the Christian who is a football fan. However, you will find strength for the journey even if you don’t know a hatchback from a quarterback. Tony has something to say to everyone.

Coach Dungy will challenge you with his faith walk. He speaks to issues and situations he has walked through. He has lost a son to a tragic death. He has been fired. He talks about how to know the right one to marry. Success is also something one must learn to handle. Tony will help you there. He is a winner and so is the book.

Get ready to support your favorite team this fall. And don’t forget to join the Olive team on Team Building Sunday – August 26.

I saw one of your sermons late last night - the one on “alcohol”…Great information!! Great insight!!! esp. when dealing with friends and family…ya know,…especially in this age of “tolerance”…anyway, I was looking up to see if I could find information on that sermon so I could take some notes!…but on the way I stumbled across your blog! So, I thought I would say “hey” since I saw you got Dungy’s book…It is available through http://www.fca.org….we are the local folks (we’ve been called “local missionaries”) for FCA over here in Southern Alabama…our church is having a big kickoff on August 26th too…it is a church plant and sort of in a “relaunching” time…please pray for this church…great things in store over here in southern alabama…
