Are you looking forward to the nearness of God today?

April 1st, 2008

In my Bible time this morning I read Psalm 73:28. “It is good to be near God.” That is the truth. I have walked away from the Lord at times in my life and that is never good. The nearness of God is a good thing. I encourage you to draw near to Him today. How does one do that?

1. Confirm your salvation

2. Slow down and talk to God

3. Confess your sins

4. Read the Word

5. Be a servant to someone today

It is April 1. Some call it April Fool’s Day and have fun at the expense of others. The Bible has its own warning to the foolish – a fool has said in his heart there is no God. Don’t act like a fool and go at life alone. Practical atheism ignores God in the everyday affairs of life. He is alive. Draw near to him.

Liz and I have been hard at work getting our house ready to go on the market. We are in the seller’s game today. This morning I prayed for God to send us a buyer in His time. He is in charge of every aspect of our lives. I ask you to pray with me about this issue. If you meet someone needing a home send them our way.

Have a great day. And draw near to the Lord. That is a good thing!

I will join you in prayer about your home. My family is also getting ready to put our house up for sale. It is true that the housing market is not so great right now, but Jesus is in control of whether or not our home will sell quickly or not. I’d much rather pray the Lord’s will in it and know that whatever comes our way, Jesus is Lord over the circumstances.

Your sermon Sunday was great. Warfare is complicated though - do you have any plans on preaching on it? How to know whether you are under attack and how to stand strong when you feel weak and defeated?
