Friday Thoughts

Friday, January 29th, 2010

When I am asked to sign a Bible at a conference, I write Matthew 4:4. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God. Zig Ziglar has a little twist on that verse. He often says your mate cannot live on bread alone, but needs to be buttered up from time to time. Only Zig can say it that way. What a man!

Today my spouse is with her mom, helping pack items from the main house and getting her settled in the new place. Mrs. Baker just moved into an assisted living facility. She really loves it and we are grateful. I ask you to pray for Liz. We need to sell her mom’s house. A potential buyer is coming by today. Amen! I am grateful today for God’s gift to me of my wife. She is a priceless jewel in my life.

I have just returned from Texas and a very important meeting of the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force. Southern Baptists are in need of revival. We are stuck in neutral. We are not making national nor world impact as we should or could. We have 2/3 of our churches and missionaries in 1/3 of the American population and 1/3 of our force where 2/3 of the people live in our nation. We must make a strategic shift. I encourage you to be a soul winner and a disciple-maker today.
