A Perfect Fit

Friday, October 30th, 2009

When October 30-31 rolls around Liz and I recall great memories. It was nineteen years ago when we loaded up the suburban and made the drive with two small children to Pensacola. On Halloween night 1990, we stayed in the Holiday Inn University Mall. The following Sunday was our first day at Olive.

On Wednesday of this week Liz and I made that drive again. I was in Dallas for GCR and she went with me. As we drove this week our minds were flooded with memories. We talked of how we sat and cried in our empty Texas house before we got in the car for the drive. We had no idea what we were getting into as we followed God’s call to Olive. We just knew it to be the mind of the Lord.

So here we are nineteen years later. Those small kids are adults. Rachel is working at Regions, Bennett is married to Amanda, and Liz is still with me! What a great ride it has been. And we believe the best is yet to come.

Being the pastor of one church for almost twenty years has many blessings to it. Liz and I believe our relationship to Olive has been a match made in heaven. We feel we were a perfect fit for each other. Thank you, Church Family, for allowing us to be among you these many years. Let’s press on and see what else God has for us to do.
