In addition to our Easter services, there are two important events happening at Olive next month of which you will want to be apart.
April 5 is I Love My Church Sunday. On this week before Easter I am challenging our faith family to have love for Olive and let it take action in three ways:
• I encourage you to reach out to a member whom you have missed at church services. Give him or her an invitation to join you April 5.
• Bring a food item for the Church and Community food ministry. There will be shopping carts at the door when you enter April 5. Just drop the items in the cart. Most needed items are canned spaghetti sauce, 1 lb. boxes of spaghetti noodles, 1 lb. bag of rice, and jars of peanut butter.
• As we end the church budget fiscal year and begin the new one, we need to catch up. My challenge is for every member to consider being a tither on this day. Ask God about giving a double tithe for this one day. My goal is to see a $300,000 offering on April 5.
Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00pm Denver Moore will be our special guest. He co-authored the book, Same Kind of Different As Me. This Thomas Nelson book has been a best-seller. It is a great story and it is true. Denver is coming to encourage us and help us raise funds to help the needy of Pensacola. The tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. You do not want to miss this night.
Continue to pray for the FBC of Maryville, Illinois where the Pastor Fred Williams was shot and killed in the pulpit Sunday. Several people have asked me about our security measures. Our leaders in this area were recently at a conference helping to make our skills better. This is something we evaluate on a regular basis. The Bible speaks of the mystery of lawlessness. While we may not understand it we do see it all around us-even at church.
